CPAUG holds a Drug Abuse Youth summit in Mbale

With support from the National Drug Authority (NDA) CPAUG held the 1st Ever Eastern Region Drug Abuse Youth Summit in Mbale on 26th Sept. 2014 at Nkoma SSS-Mbale with a Teachers’ Session on Drug Abuse that brought together around 38 teachers from Mbale and Sironko Districts to discuss how they can help in addressing the problem of drug and substance abuse among the youth. Speaking at the session the Head Teacher and Host Nkoma SSS share some insights on how best teachers can become change agents in the fight against drug abuse and what the GoU through NDA should do.

The Executive Secretary, NDA through his keynote address thanked CPAUG for organizing the event and informed the teachers what NDA is doing and its planned interventions that the teachers should become part of.

The Youth Summit for students in numbering 150 from five (5) secondary schools had a question answer session with the team from NDA. CPAUG plans to hold other three (3) regional youth summits on Drug & Substance Abuse in the Western, Northern and Central Regions in 2015. A full report will be shared here.
