The 4th National CSO Fair: Theme: “Celebrating Our East African Citizenship”
The National Civil Society Fair is an annual event organized in a specially created Civil Society space, an arena that is meant to show part of a bigger picture of what Civil Society is. It is also an occasion planned in Uganda by Civil Society Organizations to provide a unique space for mutual learning, forging viable networks, building solidarity and taking part in debates and discussions with citizens, Government, and other stakeholders on development issues and concerns.
The 4th edition of the National CSO Fair is to be organized in the purview of the wider opportunities that the EAC presents to the citizens of the member states. Historically, East African citizens have played a prominent role in furthering the regional integration process through common aspects of; education, culture, music, Swahili language, and intermarriages among the border communities.
The 4th National CSO Fair scheduled on 26th – 27th June 2014, will therefore focus on the EAC integration process, building on the profound success of 2011, 2012 and 2013 editions. Under the Theme, “Celebrating Our East African Citizenship”” the CSO Fair’s expected to attract over 10,000 participants from the general public, Government and private sector in Uganda and the rest of East Africa, to showcase their work and celebrate their national and regional unity in diversity and East African identity..This is an annual event a brain-child of the Commonwealth Peoples’ Association of Uganda (CPAUG).
